Wesley, 24, was involved in an auto-pedestrian accident in Orem at approximately 2 p.m. after getting off the UVX bus. According to his family, medics who were nearby reached him almost immediately, but he could not be resuscitated and had died by the time family members were notified.
His passing came about four years after he survived a devastating traumatic brain injury following a longboarding accident. His recovery involved multiple brain surgeries and extensive rehabilitation. Despite those difficult years, Wesley rebuilt his life with remarkable determination.
He returned to work at Harmons, continued his education at Utah Valley University, and pursued activities he enjoyed, including mountain biking, hiking, and surfing. He also spoke publicly about his recovery, encouraging young people to wear helmets and take safety seriously.
The physician who received Wesley at the hospital reportedly recognized him from a trauma conference where Wesley had spoken in April. The doctor also knew physicians who had helped save Wesley after his earlier injury, making the loss particularly personal.
Family and friends remember Wesley as kind-hearted, adventurous, positive, and resilient. His journey became an example of perseverance and hope.
