Eastleigh Accident Today: A serious road collision near Eastleigh, Hampshire, has left one person dead after an HGV crashed through a barrier on the M3 and fell from a bridge onto the road below.

The collision happened shortly before 11 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, near M3 Junction 14, where the motorway connects with the M27. The lorry reportedly went through the bridge barrier and fell onto Chestnut Avenue, near Chandler’s Ford.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, including Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, South Central Ambulance Service and specialist responders. The driver was found trapped inside the vehicle and was later confirmed dead.

The HGV came to rest on its side after the fall, with the crash causing significant damage. A specialist recovery operation is expected to be required to remove the vehicle.

Police collision investigators and commercial vehicle officers are examining the circumstances surrounding the crash. The precise cause has not yet been confirmed.
